When you can beat me at autocross you can claim better handling, you'd be surprised at how well a beam axle works. I'm just not impressed by the handling of the mr2, light understeer to snap oversteer is not fun. Though gross amounts of solid understeer like my car I think is almost as bad but much easier to control and can me mostly remedied. A car is only as reliable as the person driving it, unfortunately a lot of stupid people get dsms because theyre cheap and easy to make power with, they just don't do it right.

I totally agree. And trust me...I will definitely bring it when the time is right.

You'll need to, by the next event I will have my suspension on and by the end of next month the rear sway bar, rear bushings and rear tie bar will be on. I'm planning on buying a set of slicks for next year, that should make a huge difference. I just hope to see you and Chris out there, it's so much fun.

Finally some common ground for all of us, a passion for racing.

We do share the passion for our cars, and at least you guys aren't into Fords. The mr2 is a step in the right direction though!

It is hard to beat mid-engine rear wheel drive, as a general statement. Most top end performance cars tend to use the layout. To name a few, Porsche 911, Lotus Espirit, Saleen S7, Ford GT, and so on.

911 is a rear engine, rear or all wheel drive. We get the idea though. When done right the layout generally is balanced weight wise. The Type-R showed what a fwd is capable of in handling and the porker Lincoln LS has a 50/50 weight distribution, so these days great handling can be achieved from most any setup. I do like having the engine behind me, it's different.

You corrected me, the 911 is rear engine.
I have noticed more and more that weight distribution is a lot of the issue. There are a lot of great handling front drivers around. They Integra Type R, like you said, does it as well as any.
It still feels awkward being pulled instead of pushed. Pushing just feels right, at least IMO.

I am a HUGE fan, not by hear-say, but by pesonal experience, of the 99+ Celica GT-S. They have absolutely amazing handling charecteristics, and is probably (seriously) one of the funnest cars ive ever driven.

Funny. Thats the car that me and my friends made a key copy of, and would move the girls car all over the place while in school. Lesson learned- 180 horse power in a new celica is good for burnouts.

Those cars need a serious dose of steroids because they're slow as dogs. Excellent handling cars though. Too bad they quit making them, I hope they bring out something good to replace because the Tc doesn't cut it performance wise.

Slow? They run a 15.2 at the track stock, as tested by car and driver. Thats as fast as your car stock benny boy lol.

My car as of 15 years ago. The Supra was the only thing Toyota had in 90 that would beat me.
