between you two, i chose the mr2 i do agree tho, i wish the mr2 in the street challenge had the 3sgte motor in it, it would be interesting to see how it competed. not every contest had to do with the motor tho, and the mr2 still blew the dsm out of the water.

Somewhat, some of the new categories were torque curve and power delivery. A v6 will have a much smoother curve and delivery than a turbo4. I dont know why but the dsm was last in braking, with just a couple upgrades the brakes can be very good. I'm guessing the brakes were nearly stock. But considering the dsm was only running about half the mods of the mr2 it did quite well beating out some fast cars.

Toyota knows how to make a good engine, i.e the 4age and the 2jz, now if they could just make a red paint that didn't fade terribly!

Would be nice to see an eclipse with the 2.4 hybrid running in that since the MR2 was swapped.

Im going to have to say that the MR2 would still own it. And im not just saying that because i own an MR2. Im serious.

You said you think a DSM with a 2.4L swap would own the MR2 right? Read the end of that article, how he apparently "dominated everything" including.. uh.. skylines. A DSM person has to be told that their cars are not godlike once again.

I think the biggest surprise of the tests were the Evo's, they didn't fair well at all. The 1st gen beat them in nearly every category. Well they have another year to sort things out and I hope to see some different cars in next years challenge.

All Brad Bedell did to the the Mr2 was a supercharged V6 swap, coilover suspension, minor drivetrain work(clutch, flywheel, shortshifter), and upgraded brakes and tires. The MR2 had the least amount of modifications done to it, And other than the Miata was the cheapest car overall to build. Keep whining DSM guys.

F U! I could take the same amount of money and give him a run out there with my car. At least the dsm didnt need a swap.

Neither did Brad's car, honestly. If he invested that amount of money into the 3SGTE, you would STILL have an elite competitor.
