I was wondering if anyone on here has ever hydrolocked with their car?
Hydrolocking being when water is sucked up through your Intake into the engine.
I just got a V2 and I was wondering about it. Though, it doesnt really bother me that much cause theirs rarely that many puddles in ohio.
But anyone ever had a problem with it?

I've never had that problem, nor seen a car that has. Must be something in really wet areas. When you say you got a V2, is that an intake for you car?

Ya, AEM V2 Cold Air Intake.
I heard the problems are worse in rannier areas, but it was just something I was wondering about. Personally, i dont think it rains enough in Ohio for it to be a problem. I was just wondering if anyone else had a problem with it.

I've experienced it, but the circumstances were extreme at best..you have nothing to worry about unless you get into deep water somehow, just be careful when it floods. If you get to a point where water is going over your headlights and you're stuck, you're going to have problems, unless you have a snorkel...
I had to rescue my brother who had got himself stranded after hydro-locking his truck. You see, he was in Maryland...yes, Maryland... with a 4-wheel drive truck club, and he took his truck through a puddle that was about 3 feet deeper than he thought it was and sucked about 5 gallons of muddy water into his engine intake...NOT GOOD.
I drove out there and we trailered it back home, a 12-hour trip through the mountains of Pennsylvania and West by god Virginia...doing 45Mph the whole way, bad times.

When I had a CAI on my Saturn, the filter was right in the front of the bumper, just hovering over the ground. On really rainy days, like extremely hard downpours, if I would drive along the interstate and really get on it, the filter would be wet enough that it would suck water in and you could definately feel the power loss. I have a MegaSquirt and I noticed that during the rain at cruise, intake temps would drop a lot because of the mists of water entering the intake.
One day on my way to school, I pulled into DeVry and went through the deepest puddle ever. It was a few inches. There was really no other way in so I just got a run for it. As I went through it my engine shut off and it wouldn't crank over. After trying numerous times to start it, it finally choked itself. There was so much water in the cylinders that the starter couldn't even try to turn the engine over. After burning out the starter, I came to the conclusion that my engine was toast. After tearing the engine apart once I got a new one, I inspected it to see only a tiny bit of the piston was missing. Highly doubtful it was due to water, but possible detonation in the past since I did have fuel issues.
I bet if I would have kept it floored through the water I would have sucked up enough water to bend valves or crack a piston.
