Back in 1994 when i was 14 years old, my dad showed me a picture with sarcasm in his eyes of a (of all things) "pimped out" honda civic. My eyes grew wide as i was excited by the fact that it wasnt a muscle car. Someone was actually upgrading and tuning compact import cars.
So has so much changed in 10 years to where its more about the scene and the coolness than the car? Chris (Im JDM Yo) tells me all these stories about Columbus.. Im not sure i want to even be a part of the scene there-it sounds hateful. People spitting out regurgitated lines from the video game Need For Speed: Underground, and Fast & the Furious. "Yeah i got my car a state 3 weight reduction kit" in order to gain in coolness and respect? Wow.
He showed me a post made on a website called "columbus racing" that was one of the worst, and partly funniest things ive ever seen. Chris told me that he made this website because the people there were dicks, and a bunch of people all over columbus hated the site but had no choice but to post on it. As i read the post posted on columbus racing .com, i realize: God damn, they hate you. lol. There was even a kid making fun of Chris' MR2 like it was riced out; allthough its nearly stock. I mean thats what you call being desperate for material. All this hate in one city? Crap.
When we have MK4 meets up here in toledo, there is nothing but a happiness and respect for eachothers cars. An interest.. A happiness to be among our friends. In c-bus, i heard there are people packing knives and waving "gansta" symbols in the air.. People doing doughnuts in parking lots... What the fuck is that?
Its just a sad time right now in the import buisness i think. The market is being flooded with hollywood-inized video games and movies that are misinforming people of what the "street racing" scene is all about. If you want to know, honestly, go to an old muscle car meet. They know how to do it.
