Now that I have a few hundred miles and a session of autocross on these tires I figure it's time for an initial review. They are the new Hankook Ventus RS-2 tires which is supposed to be their equivilant to the Azenis. Tire specs: It's a symmetrical tire but directional. The tread wear rating is 200 A/A, and is the lowest rated tire allowed in street tire classes in Scca. On a daily basis: 7/10 It's a bit noisy but not too bad. They have a stiff sidewall so you feel the little bumps and imperfections much more. Wet traction is great so they're easy to drive around town vs. just on the track. On the track: 9/10 It's a very sticky tire. Excellent lateral grip and no rolling onto the sidewalls. They don't make too much noise at the limit but let you know when you're there. They get stickier as they get hotter and don't shudder the car while cornering. I hope to get an autocross event in the rain to see the full potential in the rain. Overall: 9/10 They're cheaper than the Azenis, almost as good in the dry and likely much better in the rain. I will post a full review once I've gone through these tires to see how they hold up mileage wise and how they do as they wear.

The tires are sound like a real quiet set of mud tires on the freeway, but on the track at the limit only squeal enough to let you know where the limit is. The sound is not intrusive at all like cheap tires howl when pushed.

Final thoughts..... The tires are about worn now and its time for a final review. They've lasted pretty good, about 12,000 miles and about 14 autox sessions some of which I saw 10 laps. They've taken a lot of abuse and held up well. Traction is about as good as new, and they didnt get as noisy as I thought they would. All in all theyre good tires that serve a dual purpose and for the money theyre hard to beat. I'll give an overall rating of 8 out of 10, good dual purpose tire, but not the best street tire you can get. I will likely buy these again.
