I may need to replace my cats as the dumb CEL is showing cat performing below threshold. Asked a few places and either they don't do aftermarket race cats or won't take customer parts. Thinking of Carsound race cats or just plain straight pipes to stink up tree huggers Any places to recommend?

No legitimate shop will likely install a test pipe in place of a cat. It's something like a $10,000 fine, and is a federal offense. You can order the parts yourself and do it but most shops won't. I don't know how they are about "after market" cats. If they're not sure I'm guessing they won't do it. As for high flow, simply going with a larger diameter piping and a cat will flow just fine. My exhaust is 2.5in with a regular cat in it. The difference between a high flow and a regular one is probably minimal. You might see 1 or 2 more hp. Just call around to find a shop that will make you an exhaust. You can always gut the cat later, just remember if you get caught it will cost you.

I'm not really after a "better" flow per-say....it's because my stock cats are going south for me looking to get a replacement done The hunt continues

Well any exhaust shop can do that. I went to Westerville automotive and they did a decent job. It was a $100 for the cat itself. Then they tried to rip me off on my clutch so I don't reccommend them. If your looking for cheap just go to Midas or something.

What kind of car do you drive? It sounds like it's a California emissions car.

No wonder, do all of the cats have o2 sensors in them? Usually obd 2 has a pre and post/in cat o2 sensor. If only 1 has an o2 then you only really need to replace the one and eliminate the other 2 cats. You have the mustang engine so there's lots of aftermarket for your motor.
