Well my engine on my 2000 GTS is going bad already. It has 64,000 on it. I have treated it very good for the 4K miles iv owned it. My car is 4K miles out of warrenty. Engine makes a knocking noise and its most likely a rod. Theres a slight chance I can get a free motor from toyota if I get the oil reciepts from the last owner to show it was taken care of. If not I will either rebuild the motor or buy a used one with a long warrenty on it.

I'll bet the last owner didn't keep up on the oil changes! If they do fix it, great...but if not buy a used one and build it!

Im willing to bet Toyota will warantee it anyway, thats extremely unusual for a GT-S 1zz motor to spin a bearing that early in its life when theyre expected to last 150k+. Id call toyota directly.

Agreed, if you talk to toyota directly, you'll have a much better shot at getting it fixed on there tab. Going through a dealership is just gonna be more trouble than it's worth.

My RSX did the same thing to me. I got it with 30,000 miles on it and I drove it another 4,000 miles and blow the engine. Lucky for me acura had a new engine put in for free. The bill was over 9,000 dollars. Hope everything works out for you.

Id call toyota directly. 2ZZ-GE motor not 1ZZ Anyways when I called toyota directly they said talk to the dealer and the dealer is calling toyota and asking them to get me a motor. If that doesnt work out im going to get a rebuild because I cant just let go of this car I really like it.

well I have went to all the locations the guy said he took it for oil and it looks like my car went 20,000+ miles without an oil change. The car is still running fine it just ticks for a few minutes after starting it up then sounds normal. Iv been calling around for rebuild prices and I will let you guys know what happens.

who goes 20K miles without changing their oil? i change mine in the MR2 every 2K and in the nissan every 3K. people tell me 2K is overkill, but when i see a story like this, i am reminded why i do it.
thats too bad about your car though. usually its the tranny that goes first on those, not the motor!

My friend works at Valvowater, and he had a guy come in who bought his car brand new 12 years ago. He never changed the oil once. The car started burning oil really bad so he just added a quart of oil every week and figured that the old oil was burning up so he didnt need to change it. My friend and his boss called the guy an idiot and told he needs to change it every 3k or 3mo.. The guys jaw dropped. His odometer was at 145.XXX.
