I just hooked my Air2Fuel gauge this morning and my 1991 MR2 NA is running real lean. Does anyone know how to fix this problem. It was running kind of rich last summer, but that didnt worry me. Now im afraid to drive it if its not getting enough fuel.

o2 sensor possibly, usually they make you run rich when they go bad. Fuel pump might be going out or fuel filter is clogged.

Those a/f gauges are 99% bullshit. Buy an EGT gauge.

Those a/f gauges are 99% bullshit. Buy an EGT gauge. Very true! most of the time the o2 sensor is dead! and a/f gauges WILL not help you tune it!

A "wideband" is a "wideband" O2 sensor. Unlike a normal O2 sensor, they are very accurate and have a relatively fast reaction time. As for cost, kits including the sensors and gauges and such can be had for $250 to ~$400. BTW, be sure to get a kit that uses a bosch style sensor instead of a Honda style sensor. A newer bosch wideband can be had for ~$100, while a older Civic VX sensor is like $500!!! This isn't because the bosch sensor is cheaper to make, but actually because the bosch sensor (which is used on a TON of VWs/Audis/Porsches) fails relatively frequently. VW had to give bosch a bunch of money to price the part cheaper so that the owners wouldn't throw shit fits...

an AEM UEGO wideband will run you around 500 bones or so. that includes O2 sensor, digital A/F gauge, and everything youll need. to put in in perspective, that sensor is a 12 wire O2 sensor... my MR2 has a 4 wire, while my nissan has a 1 wire O2.
if you want to tune your car, its the single most important thing you could ever purchase.

exhuast temp gauges help a lot to! i put mine in the header collecter! cost about 200.. and on a 1/4 run it shouldn't get higher then 1200-1300 with a good tune, high temps means it's lean and lower temps mean rich! i tuned a few cars on the freeway in 4th.but that was when i had my digital setup from Percy's!!

EGT gauges are great, but readings are very subjective based on where you put the probe.
a probe placed right in the manifold off the head is going to have a different reading than one placed on a downpipe.

Well, a Egr gauge is a diag tool used to diag running problem, for your info...
and unless the egr valve is vacuum operated, it will be open to help ping or spark knock!!!
