ya...i like the body styling and all, but that 4 banger motor (even if it is the 4g63) combined with the 4000lb car....even with the turbo and drivetrain it still sounds like its gonna be slow as piss

yeah but its not a finalized project yet i belive it was ralliart just working on a new idea for the eclipse and i hope they keep this design but lightin it up and take the price down but then again it would be stuipd to make this car it would take sales away from the one car keeping them alive

I think it looks great. How does it perform? Thats the real question.

I think it looks great. How does it perform? Thats the real question. 4000 lbs it probably performs very closely to the..... Escalade.

ya....if they want the thing to be even close to fast....they need to take that new MIVEC V6 theyve been raving about....and throw a turbo or 2 on the beast....that might scoot the 4000lb monster to some respectable stats

How about a 3000GT Redesign and re-release?? I'd probably buy one...
Light Weight, Twin-Turbo, Yes Please.

Except 3000GT's are not light weight in any aspect. lol. Unless youre talking about the fictional redesign.

Well, yes, naturally..The achillies heel of that car, it's overly obese for no damn good reason. The engineers would solve part of that problem in the redesign. Aluminum body and a composite carbon fiber frame...maybe even a balsa-wood flooring structure like the new Corvette has? It'll never happen, but it's a nice thought, Mitsubishi could never build it, not for a reasonable price anyhow. That car in today's dollars would cost at least $80,000 conservatively.
Never mind, i'll just go buy a new Vette...or hold out for the new Z06 model...gooood times!

Or if they redesigned the SW20 style MR2, added a "few" features, and basically made it a Toyota version of the Elise, tha'd be hot.
sigh.
GET IT TOGETHER TOYOTA!

Yep, that would be, very boner-riffic. I'm a Lotus lover, ever since i saw my first Esprit V8 in person...I fell in love with the sexy lines of those cars. It's no Ferarri, but I think I would be just as happy driving either one, and a used Esprit is reasonably priced to pick up used....$20-40,000 depending on condition...not bad. I tried to buy an old Lotus from someone at a house auction about a year ago. It was the late 1960's version of the Elise, called the Europa...neat little fiberglass thing. The interior was cherry, but had been sealed up in a barn, literally, since about 1980, and not a spec of dust inside...so the engine and drivetrain and whatnot was rotted out & eaten by mice, though it was all made by Renault so it would be a total replacement situation anyway. Paint was faded, the body was perfect, cause it was all fiberglass, even the emblems were all still intact. I couldn't get the executors of the estate to sell it to me, so i moved on, I believe it stayed in the family... It could have made a really neat custom... here's a pic of one i found on the net that is similar:

Personally, I think the new eclipse is very ugly. Which probably explains why I've only seen like 2 or 3 on the road. They're expensive and aren't that great looking. I think they need to go back to the GST/GSX days. I would totally buy an all wheel drive, turboed eclipse. Hell, they could make it a V6 too, but that would jack the price up pretty badly.

I sort of agree, not 100% though. If they softened up the lines and made it look less like a Hornet, it would sell better.
But none of that matters. Have you ever driven one of those things? Its like a fucking gokart with a VVTL-i 4 cylender in it.
