I recently purchased the KYB AGX 4 way adjustable dampers for my 91 Toyota MR2 Turbo, and holy crap. Lets start with installation.
Installation: 6/10
Installing them was difficult, meerly because of my MR2's suspension setup. Problems included:
-Sway bar being attached directly to the strut tower casing
-Strut tower being IN a casing.
-Rusted endlinks on the strut, making it so i had to actually cut a strut bar off and order a TRD to replace it with. (Those clever toyota bastards..)
-Loosening the strut casing nut and having gear oil spill all over you because the inside of the strut case is filled with it.
Other than that, installation was a breeze, lol.
Drivability: 8/10
Setting "1" which is the softest setting feels like putting a nice stiff set of Tien springs on your camry. Stiff and somewhat bouncy. But overall tolerable and semi-comfortable. Setting 4? Think first before running over that worm in the middle of the road: is it really worth breaking your back over?
Handling: 9/10
For being a reasonably priced damper which is only adjustable 4 ways, theese dampers are top-notch. When i had first put them on, i had an EXTREMELY worn out ball joint, so i never really got to feel their full potential until recently when i had chromoly ball joints installed. All i can say is WOW.
I took an off-ramp at, no joke, no tall tale, no exaggeration: 71mph. No body roll, no understeer, and the tires barely barked. The dampers hold their integrity and predictibility even at their limit. And this was all before i put the KYB springs on.
Overall: I give the KYB AGX installed on my 91-93 Toyota MR2 Turbo a 8.5/10
